Luke 1:46-55

46 And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord

47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,

48 for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,

49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me-- holy is his name.

50 His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.

51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.

52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.

53 He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

54 He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful

55 to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."

God had a plan from before the beginning of creation to save not only the Israelites, but all nations from their sins. This expectant mother who was the chosen vessel through which God’s plan would finally be revealed stands in awe of who God is…His love, His mercy, and His faithfulness. She humbly glorifies Him for these characteristics and so many more as she says these words. Have you ever had one of those “God moments?” Have you ever been in the midst of a situation and just suddenly understood that God was present and that He was working in you and through the situation at hand? I have had many such experiences and each time I was immediately inclined to worship and glorify Him simply because of who He is and who He has proven Himself to be in my life. Take a few moments from your busy schedule today and think about your “God moments.” Take the opportunity to be reminded of God’s mercy and faithfulness to you. I promise you it will be time well spent in the presence of our God and Savior.

Father God, help me to see Your work in my life. Give me the humble, worshipful heart of Mary who vowed to be Your servant and vessel to be used by You for your divine purposes. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
