Our Purpose

We are a non-denominational New Testament Church, part of a world wide movement to restore the essentials of apostolic Christianity. We believe the Bible to be the divinely inspired word of God and final authority.  We seek to lead lives of faithfulness and devotion guided by Christ Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  We seek to worship Christ Jesus, the virgin-born Son of God.  We place no others before Him.

The Caneyville Christian Church is led by godly men known as Elders (I Timothy 5:17), who seek to lead in spiritual matters for a congregation of believers who have one God, one faith, one baptism and one hope.

We believe salvation is a free gift bestowed by God's grace and received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).  We insist upon those matters which Christ and His Word sets forth as requirements for forgiveness of sins and membership in His church: FAITH in God and His Son (Matthew 16:16); REPENTANCE for sin (Luke 13:3); CONFESSION of Christ publicly (Romans 10:9); BAPTISM by immersion in the name of Christ for the remission of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38); and living a Christian life of submission, sacrifice, and worship (Ephesians 4:12).

Each Sunday, the first day of the week, we share a Communion service around the Lord's Table at Christ's own invitation (I Corinthians 11:23-29).  All who belong to Him are welcome to join with us in partaking of the loaf and the cup.

Simply stated, our goal is to restore the church as it was when it first began (Acts 2).  We do not claim to be the "only" Christians, but strive to be simply Christians only.
