2 Corinthians 6:3-10

3 We put no stumbling block in anyone's path, so that our ministry will not be discredited. 4 Rather, as servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; 5 in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; 6 in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; 7 in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left; 8 through glory and dishonor, bad report and good report; genuine, yet regarded as impostors; 9 known, yet regarded as unknown; dying, and yet we live on; beaten, and yet not killed; 10 sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.

I know that there is plenty to unpack in this passage, but I want us to especially look at the things that the Apostle has been through up to this point for the cause of Christ. He had been through it all for the Lord for sure. Some had apparently tried to come into Corinth and discredit the ministry of Paul as well as his followers. They reasoned that if Paul was going through so much trouble that he was going against the will of God. The Apostle’s point is that he is experiencing these troubles BECAUSE of his adherence to the truth. Let’s be honest, the world can’t handle the truth and it most often reacts negatively to the truth. Even when the ultimate truth, the living Word of God came to earth, the unbelieving world utterly rejected Him and put Him upon the cross. Paul would continue to suffer greatly for his Savior and yet kept the faith to the very last breath. May we strive to keep the faith through every season of life and every trouble we encounter, for our walk will encourage others to do the same throughout this troublesome life.

Father God, strengthen my faith so that I can withstand any trouble or trial that comes my way. Help me to be a positive example even through negative circumstances. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
